KRK Calls Baahubali 2 The Greatest Indian Circus, Vows To Never Watch A South-Indian Film Again

BHAVYA SADHWANI | APRIL 30, 2017

Notorious for talking ill about anything and everything, self-proclaimed critic Kamal Rashid Khan strikes again. This time his prey is director SS Rajamouli and his recently released film Baahubali: The conclusion.

LIVEMINT.COM

In a series of tweets, KRK spewed filth about the film and how he won’t watch any other South Indian movie from now on.

He tweeted, "#Baahubali2 is the last South Indian film I have watched. I won't watch any other south film ever again coz i m not born to watch Ch******a. I could have been very happy if #Baahubali1 created such a big history but I am sad that a crap #Baahubali2 is creating such history.(sic)"

BAAHUBALI OFFICIAL POSTER

He didn’t stop at that. He further tweeted, that he just cannot believe that a crap film like Baahubali 2 can create history.

Someone said #Baahubali2 is the greatest Indian circus n of course ppl always like the circus whether it's good or bad. And I do 100% agree.

— KRK (@kamaalrkhan) April 29, 2017

Acording to Prabhas, in the end even RajaMouli did loss all the interest in #Baahubali2 coz he thought dat he made a crap without any logic.

— KRK (@kamaalrkhan) April 29, 2017

He even wrote that people are watching it multiple times to understand the movie.

According to sources some people are watching #Baahubali2 even 3-4 times to understand, why is it so bad n still ppl are going crazy for it.

— KRK (@kamaalrkhan) April 29, 2017

Baahubali has broken several records in just one day of its release. From raking in loads of money from advance bookings to becoming the highest grosser on the very first day, Baahubali is smashing records, one screening at a time.

KRK can crib as much as he wants, but Baahubali is going strong. It has become the first film in the history of cinema to cross Rs 100 crore on the very first day of

Kattappa is the unsung hero of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2. Here is why

Written by Priyanka Sundar | |Updated: April 30, 2017 12:56 Am

Kattappa in Baahubali is one of the most integral part of SS Rajamouli's

Kattappa, the loyal soldier of Mahishmati is the reason why audiences are mainly thronging to theatres. Kattappa kept the audiences hooked to this movie for two years. Why did Kattappa kill Baahubali? This has turned into a trending hashtag #WKKB. Sathyaraj, the man who played this iconic role will remain etched in our mind as the man who killed Baahubali. It has come to a stage where separating the two has become difficult, where we cannot think of one without remembering the other. In hindsight, we can now see that SS Rajamouli knew what he wanted when he cast Sathyaraj, and after having seen Baahubali: The Conclusion. It looks like he got it, which is everything.

In Baahubali: The Beginning, we saw Kattappa’s loyalty. We saw his resignation, especially when he was serving Bhallaladeva. We saw his anger when Devasena refused to give up. We saw his guilt and grief when he announced to Shivudu that he was the one who killed Amarendra Baahubali. One man, who portrayed all these emotions. Can you imagine Baahubali without Kattappa? Well, we can’t.

Baahubali 2 Audience Reaction: S.S. Rajamouli's Film Gets rave Review

We as the audience never asked, why did Amarendra die? Why did we not wonder why Bhallaladeva killed his mother? The hook has always been Kattappa. The filmmakers realised this when they decided to release the movie in two parts. In Baahubali: The Conclusion, audience expected to see Kattappa as the soldier, with the sword at the ready. Audiences assumed that Kattappa, the man who considered any weapon an extension of his arm, will always be seen with his shield on.

However, what we saw was a father to a boy, a friend to a fellow soldier, and an expectant grandfather. As we see him with Amarendra on screen, there are instances where you keep wondering, why would a man who thinks of Baahu as a son kill him. Throughout the film, dramatic scenes are spaced out well. But the most emotional scene, set in the most beautiful of frames with flames in the background and betrayal in the foreground is unforgettable. That scene where Kattappa drives the sword in Baahubali’s back, but you can see his head hanging low with shame. It left the audience stunned when they finally realised why Kattappa had killed Baahubali.

As the film moves closer to climax, there was also this realisation that Kattappa probably had the most screen time in the movie. He stood up to Bijjaladeva – Sivagami’s husband, which shows where his true loyalties lie. He went head to head with Kalakeyas, and later in a few sequences in Baahubali 2 where he showed us that he is a talented man on the war field. He was there when Amarendra met Devasena, when we saw his sense of humor and he was also there to tell Shivudu about who his father was, which is where we saw love.

The progression of emotions that we see on Kattappa’s face is varied and all important. If one had to compare Kattappa to any other fictional character, he resembles Severus Snape of Harry Potter. They were both distinct with the way they cared, both distinct in how complete they were to their cause, and both were loyal till the very end. SS Rajamouli’s film has been drawing so much praise, and Prabhas has especially been praised by every critic for his dedication and acting chops, but it leaves us wondering, isn’t Kattappa the real hero of this epic? Doesn’t Kattappa deserve more credit than what is given? While Prabhas is receiving the due which he deserves, are the other members of the cast remembered?

I guess the entire post is written with a mindset to attract clicks only. The magnum opus of Bahubali 1&2 is too g for the Indian audience to forget any of its characters. And No, it is not only Prabhas who is garnered with all the praises. Please take a look around, here's a movie where each one in the frame has become synonymous to its character. At one time what Mughal-e-aazam was to the Indian cinema and still is, Bahubali is to remain the same and more for a long long time to come. Kattappa sure deserves every praise for his amazing character but comparing it with any other character is nothing but disrespectful to the vision of Rajmouli.

While one can completely agree with the moot point of the article, that being how Katappa is perhaps the most important character in the story, your journalists all seem to be hesitant to praise the movie all the way, and seem more intent to coat the praise with a touch of negativity thrown in. Common thread through most of your articles on the movie. Very strange.

REUTERS - In the 22 months since “Baahubali: The Beginning” hit theatres, the story might have faded from our minds but the spectacle that unfolded on screen remains seared in the memory of viewers. S. S. Rajamouli makes sure that when we return to his imaginary world, we never stop gasping till the end credits roll.

In “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion”, marauding elephants, an invincible but kind-hearted king and his unconditional devotion to his mother all come together in the first five minutes, perfectly setting the stage for the next three hours of the epic.

While Rajamouli does apply the brakes on this juggernaut from time to time, the film has enough speed to propel it towards a high-octane climax, where our hero Mahendra Baahubali (Prabhas) meets his nemesis Bhallaladeva, the evil king who is responsible for his father’s death.

“Baahubali 2” takes off where we last left it. Katappa, trusted lieutenant of the Mahishmati kingdom and the subject of a thousand memes, tells the story of Amarendra Baahubali to his son, Mahendra.

Prince Bhallaladeva (Rana Daggubati) is seized with jealousy because his mother, Queen Sivagami (Ramya Krishnan) would rather make his cousin Amarendra her successor. To make matters worse, the princess Bhallaladeva wants as his wife would rather marry Amarendra.

But when Amarendra and princess Devasena (Anushka Shetty) announce their intention to marry, the queen, egged on by her son and husband Bijjaladeva (Nassar), considers the union an act of defiance and turns her against her choice for king.

Rajamouli takes a while to actually get to the conflict, spending almost half of the movie’s runtime setting up the romance between the outspoken warrior princess and the smitten prince. But the action never stops. Amarendra eyes Devasena over hunting trips and while they demolish entire armies together. She falls for him after he saves her kingdom from an attack.

Rajamouli and writer K. V. Vijayendra Prasad (the director’s father) keep the story linear and simple, letting the spectacle of rampaging armies, massive kingdoms and fight sequences between the two leading men do the talking.

Q&A: Director Rajamouli on the making of 'Baahubali'

The VFX, a huge draw in a film like this, might not be up to Hollywood standards, but Rajamouli and his team manage to make this world look imposing and impressive.

In fact, if it wasn’t for the special effects, the film would probably go down as campy and often over-the-top where the actors arch their eyebrows at every opportunity and warriors use palm trees as weapons of war.

It is because Rajamouli never lets up in his attempt to deliver a spectacle that has to be enjoyed in theatres that “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” is a worthy conclusion to this epic series. It may not up the ante from the last film, but it doesn’t let up on the pace either. For an Indian film, that is no mean feat.

Srinagar, April 27: To deal with stone pelting in the valley the Home Ministry on Thursday said an all-women India Reserve Battalion will be formed. This move from the home ministry came after female students were seen fighting with security forces in Srinagar on April 24. The women battalion would also be asked to look at other law and order duties but its main task will be to tackle the protestors.

Around 1,40,000 have applied for India Reserve Battalion. IRB has only 5,000 vacancies. The home ministry decided to label it as women battalion after it found that 6,000 applicants who applied for the job were women. The issue was discussed at a high-level meeting chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the Rs 80,000 crore development package announced for Jammu and Kashmir by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015.

IRB has started recruiting people and nearly 40 per cent of the applicants are from the valley itself. An official was impressed to see this figure, he said, the response was very positive and encouraging. IRB aims to hire local youths for the 5,000 posts and 60 per cent are to be filled with candidates from the border districts.

The cost of raising each battalion is around Rs 61 crore, and 75 percent of the expenditure will be borne by the Centre. At present the country has around 44 India Reserve Battalions. n addition, four IRBs each are being raised in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, 12 in Maoist-hit states, besides the five in Jammu and Kashmir.

14 Bollywood Actors Who Portrayed Every Facet Of Being A Journalist On-Screen

14 Bollywood Actors Who Portrayed Every Facet Of Being A Journalist On-Screen

Debiparna C, 26 Apr 2017

Bollywood actors and journalists, especially entertainment journalists, have a love-hate relationship, and we all know why that is the case! But, that has never stopped the actors from play-pretending to be journalists on-screen time and again. So what if actors and the media are often caught throwing shade at each other off-screen?

Check out all the actors who played the role of journalists on-screen.

Shah Rukh Khan in Dil Se

In Mani Ratnam's Dil Se, SRK played a programme executive for All India Radio, who meets and has a fateful romance with Monisha Koirala's character Moina, who turned out to be a terrorist. In the film, he meets her while on a news assignment to cover 50 years of India's independence.

Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla in Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani

Shah Rukh and Juhi played rival reporters, who worked for two competing channels. This patriotic comedy-drama was actually produced by their joint venture: production company Dreamz Unlimited, which later got transformed into Red Chillies Entertainment.

Sonakshi Sinha in Noor

Sonakshi Sinha is the latest to don the character of a journalist in B-town. She plays the eponymous character in the film adaptation of Karachi, You're Killing Me!. The film is mostly about questioning journalistic ethics as well as the relationship between humanity and the stories we tell.

Ali Zafar in Tere Bin Laden

Ali Zafar played a reporter, who works for a local T.V channel in Karachi, in Tere Bin Laden. The film is a hilarious satire about a small-time journalist trying to make it big by hook or crook, but mostly by crook.

Rani Mukerji in No One Killed Jessica

The film created a stir because it was based on one of the most high-profile murder cases in India - the Jessica Lal murder case. Rani Mukerji played the role of journalist Meera Gaity, and won a Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award for her outstanding performance.

Konkona Sen Sharma in Page 3 and Wake Up Sid

Konkona's journalist avatar in Page 3 was all about the darker side of the profession. But, she was far more relatable and inspiring as the aspiring writer and freshly-minted journalist Aisha in Wake Up Sid.

Naseeruddin Shah and Ravi Baswani in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro

Naseeruddin Shah and Ravi Baswani's portrayal of photojournalists was satire gold. In their bid to expose the rich, famous, and corrupt, they go through the most bizarre sequences, the most famous one of them being the Mahabharata scene, which will have you rolling on the floor for days.

Soha Ali Khan in Mumbai Meri Jaan

Set against the backdrop of the 2006 Mumbai train bombings, Mumbai Meri Jaan saw Soha Ali Khan play a successful reporter, who loses her fiancé in the bombings. A part of the film explored what happens when a journalist's personal life gets exploited for mere TRPs.

Preity Zinta in Lakshya

Preity Zinta will always be remembered for playing the role of a war correspondent in the 2004 coming of age drama Lakshya. Her character was famously based on noted journalist Barkha Dutt, who rose to prominence after her extensive coverage of the 1999 Kargil conflict.

Kareena Kapoor Khan in Satyagraha

Kareena played a political journalist in Prakash Jha's 2013 film Satyagraha. During the filming, Kareena even took a cheeky dig at a reporter. The reporter had asked Kareena about her experience of working on the film, when Kareena had retorted that this way she would get to ask everyone annoying questions.

Anil Kapoor in Nayak

Who can forget Anil Kapoor's Nayak? His journalistic ethics were so bold that he became the goddamn Chief Minister for a day, who gets a chance at ending corruption!

Aditi Rao Hydari in Rockstar

This one was perhaps a blink and you miss role, but Aditi Rao played an entertainment journalist in Imtiaz Ali's Rockstar. She was everything that entertainment journalists are often stereotyped to be!

John Abraham and Arshad Warsi in Kabul Express

John and Arshad got to play T.V journalists in the Kabir Khan drama Kabul Express. In the film, they are sent to create a report on life in Afghanistan post the US invasion of the country in September 2001 and there they got to witness the destruction of the once grand city that lay in ruins.

Nargis Fakhri in Madras Café

Nargis Fakhri played a British war correspondent in the Shoojit Sircar political thriller Madras Café. The film was based on the backdrop of the Sri Lankan Civil War, and her character was partially inspired by renowned war
