The Tibetan spiritual leader and Nobel laureate has been in exile in India ever since the annexation of Tibet by the People's Republic of China. Throughout His Holiness's 56 years long exile period and even before, His Holiness has remained not just a spiritual figure but also a champion of peace.
His Holiness throughout the exile period has helped to revive the sacred Indian treasure, the Nalanda tradition of Buddhism and also preached compassion and peace to the world and has also been a vocal supporter of interfaith dialogue.
We request the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi to confer His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama the highest civilian award of India.
